The cover you choose will determine the amount of money you receive if you make a valid claim under the policy. The cover options have been created so you can choose the cover that best reflects your circumstances.
We cannot make recommendations on the suitability of any option for you, but we hope that the following information will help you decide.
KidsFirst Insurance is intended to provide enough money to ensure your children’s education and development are not affected by your inability to work through illness or accident. To choose a benefit, consider the current cost of your child or children, including school fees, school trips, extra-curricular lessons, transport, childcare or creche costs, clothing and shoes, and equipment for sports and hobbies. This should help you choose a monthly benefit that’s right for you. Remember - we will only pay a maximum of 75% of a person insured’s normal income.
If you are a single working parent, or you are the only parent working, then, as the working parent, you can choose to insure just you ("Working Parent" option). However if one parent stays at home, you should consider our "Working Parent and Stay at Home Partner" option for only €2.25 extra per month. If both of you work, you should consider our "Working Parents" option.
If both of you work, then you can choose Joint Cover for the same prices as insuring one parent. Under this option, the benefit payable will be in direct proportion to the income of the parent unable to work as a percentage of the joint income. If both of you are unable to work through accident or illness, and you make a valid claim, the full monthly benefit is payable. See out Example Tables for more detail.
If one of you works and the other is a "stay at home" parent, you might want to consider our "Working Parent & Stay at Home Partner" option. For an additional €2.25 per month, you can insure the "stay at home" parent for €500 per month.
If the working parent is unable to work, we will pay the monthly benefit chosen for any valid claim. If the "stay at home" parent is unable to look after the family, we will pay €500 per month for any valid claim. If both of you make a valid claim, we will pay the chosen monthly benefit for the working parent, and €500 per month for the "stay at home" parent.
See our Example Tables for more detail.
